Week 3 didn’t see any big games from high profile Wide Receivers. There were, however, 2 “Mid-Major” wideouts that put up big numbers. Though both ended up on the losing side of things, these 2 players did everything they could to keep their teams in the game.
First Team
Roger Lewis, Bowling Green (L 44-41 vs. Memphis)
7 Rec 261 Yards (37.3 YPC) 3 TDs
Roger Lewis is back! News got out to Roger that he only made Second Team last week. So what did he do? Just went out and caught 3 TDs of over 60 yards (62, 94, 62). That’s what we call explosive. His final TD gave Bowling Green the lead in the 4th Quarter, but his defense failed him late and the Falcons fell to their AAC opponent. Lewis has 461 yards and 5 TDs over the past 2 weeks. If Purdue doesn’t commit at least 2 defenders to Lewis this week I will be shocked and we might see him here again in week 4.
Second Team
Keyarris Garrett, Tulsa (L 52-38 at #16 Oklahoma)
14 Rec 189 Yards (13.5 YPC) 1 TD
Tulsa gave the Sooners a run for their money and Garrett was the main reason. He hauled in 14 balls for nearly 200 yards as the primary target for QB Dane Evans. The 5th year senior has gone over 100 yards in all 3 of Tulsa’s games this season.
