CFB “All Week 3 Team” – Running Backs

Last Week I went out on a limb stating it wouldn’t be the last time we saw those backs on our All Week Team.  And boy was I right.  We have our first repeat All Week Team member and it is…

First Team

Leonard Fournette, LSU (W 45-21 vs. #18 Auburn)

19 Car   228 Yards (12 YPC)   3 TDs   1 Rec   9 Yards

I said it once and I’ll say it again.  Leonard Fournette is a GROWN ASS MAN.  For the second week in a row against an SEC West opponent, Fournette carried the LSU offense.  The Tigers only threw for 74 yards.  Meanwhile, Big Leo was carrying it for 12 yards a clip and running through Auburn defenders the way a high school running back would against a Pee-Wee team.  The kid man specimen reached the endzone 3 times again.  In two games, Fournette has 387 yards and 6 TDs on just 47 carries.  Those are great numbers, but when you consider that both games were against opponents from the best conference in college football, they become borderline insane.  My words cannot do justice to what he did this week, so just watch the highlight film.

Second Team

C.J. Prosise, Notre Dame (W 30-22 vs. #14 Georgia Tech)

22 Car   198 Yards (9 YPC)   3 TDs

Prosise-ly what Notre Dame needed after losing Tarean Folston for the year

Notre Dame has lost a number of key starters to season ending injuries.  Most notably was QB Malik Zaire, but the Irish also lost leading rusher Tarean Folston.  But they just keep on chugging, most recently with a huge victory over #14 Georgia Tech.  The Yellow Jackets are usually the ones running the ball down their opponents throats, but C.J. Prosise turned the tides on them in week 3.  The senior back had only 10 carries in his career coming into this season, but on Saturday he was the Fighting Irish’s workhorse.  He scored 2 TDs in the 4th Quarter, including the eventual game winner that he took 91 yards to the house.  Notre Dame will look to lean on Prosise to take them where they want to go this season.  So far he has answered the call.

Honorable Mention

Paul Perkins, UCLA (W 24-23 vs. #19 BYU)

26 Car   219 Yards (8.4 YPC)   1 TD

For most of the second half, it looked like BYU wouldn’t need The Mormon Miracle Part 3.  Then Paul Perkins took over.  With Golden Boy Freshman QB Josh Rosen finally looking like an 18 year old, the Bruins needed every one of Perkins 219 yards.  Though Perkins didn’t score the winning TD, he was instrumental in leading the 4th Quarter comeback for the 10th-ranked Bruins.

Don’t forget to read Quarterbacks and Wide Receivers as well.
